Athens Virtual Golf
Support & FAQ
Questions, bug reports and feedback all reach the same inbox, and I read every one.
The game keeps crashing or closing on its own
Nearly every report of this traces back to a bad Android System WebView update — the system component the game renders through. Rolling it back fixes it:
- Open Settings › Apps (or Apps & notifications).
- Show all apps, then find Android System WebView.
- Tap the three-dot menu and choose Uninstall updates.
- Relaunch Athens Virtual Golf.
Your saved round survives this. If the crashes continue, email me your phone model and Android version and I will dig in.
Does my round survive if I quit or get interrupted?
Yes. Every shot is checkpointed, so a call, a battery death or an accidental swipe away leaves you at your last shot. Tap Resume Round on the title screen. You can also save deliberately from the in-game menu.
Do I need an internet connection?
No. The whole course, physics and audio ship inside the app, so it plays on a plane or underground. A connection is only used to fetch ads.
Ads
The game is free and carries a small banner plus one full-screen ad at the turn (after the ninth hole) when you continue to the back nine. Ads are served by Google AdMob. If an ad ever behaves badly — freezes the game, will not close, shows inappropriate content — please email me with a screenshot and roughly when it happened so I can report it.
What data does the game keep?
Scorecards, best rounds, the mid-round save and your sound setting stay on your device. The game has no accounts and no login. Advertising uses a device advertising identifier, as described in the privacy policy. Uninstalling the app removes everything the game stored locally.
Suggestions and feature requests
Very welcome — a lot of what is in the game came from player mail. Tell me what you want to see on the course.
